Research Focus: Andreas Schedle is Associate Professor, President of the CED-IADR (2016-2018) and Head of the Competence Center for Dental Materials at the School of Dentistry, Medical University of Vienna, Austria, which is accredited as a test center according to the Accreditation Law and complies with ISO 17025. His research focus is the development of preclinical tests for the estimation of the patient risk of dental materials. Cytotoxicity, and cell differentiation under the influence of dental materials, their mechanical properties and their substance release are investigated. In scientific trials and clinical studies the quality and the fitting accuracy of direct/indirect restorations are investigated. The fitting accuracy of conventional restorations is compared with the fitting accuracy of CAD/CAM restorations.
